Following on from last year's successful event we are pleased to announce
the return of the BananaMan for 2008. The races take place at the fantastic Dorney
Lake, which will be the venue for Rowing in the 2012 Olympic Games.
The BananaMan is over the ¾ triathlon distance comprising an 800m open water swim in the clear, clean waters of the rowing lake before taking to the closed, flat road circuit for a 6-lap bike course covering 30k. The final 7.5k run follows a 3 lap loop along the side of the rowing tank on the tarmac paths. For an overview map of the course follow this link.
In order to appeal to as many triathletes as possible of all abilities we are running the event both as an individual race, Relay Teams and a TeamTimeTrial. (In the team events-mixed teams will be classed as Male.) In the Relay event there should be three people per team with one doing each sector and then handing over to the next.
The TeamTimeTrial is a new innovation where three athletes race together as a team. All 3 swim, cycle and run together as a unit, and all three have to finish together to score. Teams can be from pubs, clubs, work, anywhere really! They should try to wear the same race kit or T-shirt. Drafting will be permitted within the team.
Full on-site parking means you can come and go while the event is taking place, we have showers and toilets aplenty and there is catering and an on-site triathlon store provided by triandrun.
