After 21 years, on 14th October 2012 the popular RunKingston event will evolve to become something even bigger and better – the Kingston Run Challenge!

A new festival of running for Kingston-Upon-Thames
This festival of running has something for absolutely everyone - from children and beginners through to experienced runners and marathon veterans. The centre of the picturesque town of Kingston-upon-Thames will be closed to traffic on Sunday the 14th of October as thousands of runners and spectators come together to celebrate getting fit and being active in the great outdoors.

The centrepiece of the day are three running events following a flat, scenic route that takes in the banks of the river Thames, Hampton Court Palace, the centre of Kingston itself and some of the most famous sights in the Royal Borough.

Something for everyone with three distances on offer!
Whether you are preparing for an Autumn marathon or just looking for a running event with a difference, there is something at the 2012 Kingston Run Challenge for you.

The Kingston Run Challenge still features the traditional 8 and 16 mile races made so popular by the Whole Foods Market Breakfast Run in April and there will now be an added 24 mile event for those looking to take on something a little longer. All participants over any distance will receive a Kingston Run Challenge Medal engraved with the distance they achieved on the day along with some great goodies from our event partners in the race village.

Take on the challenge as a team in the Kingston Run Challenge Relay
In the brand new Kingston Run Challenge Relay teams of three runners will take on eight miles each to complete a 24 mile, three lap course in the quickest time possible. There will be team prizes across a whole range of categories including male, female and mixed.

Train while you Race at the Kingston Run Challenge
The Challenge isn’t just a great race in its own right, it is also the perfect event if you are training for a marathon, a half-marathon, a long-distance triathlon, an Ironman, an ultramarathon or any of the endurance events on the Human Race 2013 calendar! The 8 mile event is a perfect primer for a half-marathon (or even as an over-distance training run for anyone looking to do a fast 10k) while the 16 and 24 mile versions are both great confidence boosters for those taking on an Autumn or Spring marathon. With the nutrition stations on course and chip-timing, they are the perfect way to make one of your longer runs easy to organise while simulating race conditions. Plus, for the rare breed known as ultra-marathoners the 24 mile event constitutes a great little training run – especially as part of the course follows the River Thames along the same path used in the infamous Thames Path 50 and Thames Path 100 races...
