Nearly 1500 people celebrated the end of the triathlon season at the HSBC Triathlon at Dorney Lake, Eton on Sunday. The slightly overcast conditions, with only the one brief shower, provided pleasant racing conditions for the competitors and lots of exciting racing.
After the Kids' Duathlon, the day got underway with the Olympic Distance Triathlons. The fastest times were posted by Peter Brook (2:01:50), followed by Luke Gilder (2:05:46) and Mike Judd (2:06:33). For the females, Sophie Reynolds (2:16:11), followed by Laura Trimble (2:21:28) and Elizabeth Whiting (2:29:47) finished in the top 3 positions.
For the Olympic Distance Relays the fastest time and the 1st placed male team was Ge Groby Tri (2:01:27), the fasted mixed team was Giant Radlett (2:11:04) and the fastest female relay team was Super Califragilistic Birds who came in at (2:30:51)
In the Duathlon, the fastest time was posted by David Bagge (1:00:46) with quite a large gap to Graham Robinson (1:05:15) and then Ian Taylor (1.06.15). The fastest females were Tarryn Wickins (1.16.54), Jo Braithwaite (1.17.46) and Barbara Gottardi (1.25.23).
For the Sprint Triathlon, Edward Northam (1:04:47), Matthew Hobbs (1:05:12) and Jon Horsman (1:05:29) posted the fastest three times and the fastest females were Liza Williams (1:13:48), Catherine Cooke (1:14:22) and Heather Grimes (1:15:06)
The day finished off with the Super Sprint Triathlon which acts as a great introduction for many into the sport. The fastest time was posted by Rachel Whitford (37:35) with the second and third place female finishes being Teresa Sheppard (42:47) and Michelle Sinclair (43:46). For the males the 3 fastest finishes were Gavin Newby (40:25), Hayden Coate (40:31) and Ross Vance (41:17).
The HSBC Triathlon is now firmly established in the triathlon calendar and Human Race looks forward to having participants back again for the 2012 event.
